Come Voyage with us through this beautiful state and its rich history. This literature and field trip rich class includes at-home read aloud lessons for parent and child that will dive into the rich history of the Golden State. Two to three times a month, we will travel across Ventura, Malibu, Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez areas for field trips to missions, museums, and special chumash sites to learn from different specialists about this amazing state, its people, its plants and more.
For this class, we will integrate literature from Beautiful Feet Books’ California history curriculum. Parents will be guided with week-to-week readings and corresponding Socratic questions prompting discussion and discovery; students will also study art, poetry, geography, music, and culinary history. Beautiful drawings of plants and animals will familiarize students with the unique gifts of nature indigenous to this state, cultivating respect and wonder for the natural world.
How it works: Every Monday we will send out an email with the reading list, at-home study downloadable lesson plans with prompts and activities and information on our next field trip so all members of this group class (parent and child) can prepare to travel. We will do our best to connect you with other local mamas to carpool with as some field trips may require up to an hour-and-a half voyage. It will be an adventure! We will offer this group a private chat for all members to find support, share ideas of what’s working, and help build community.
